Preparation and Usage Starting Skills

Project Steps

  1. This design was etched in stages. The technique allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously. Additionally, it enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit.
  2. This design was made by trimming stencils. Trimming is used when the masking technique is not adequate and the design requires the cutting or altering of the stencil.
  3. After preparing the glass, arrange the 3 card stencil and the crown in the upper left corner as shown. Trim to just a border around the bottom of the crown where that stencil overlaps into the cards. Trim out the card stencil where it can be seen in the crown
  4. Trim to just a narrow border around the Old English K and place it in the top card with the heart over it in the bottom right corner as shown. Trim the diamond and spade shapes to fit in the exposed bottom right corner of the other two cards.
  5. Press everything down firmly and follow the etching cream instructions to etch the filled cards and crown onto the mug.
  6. Looking through the back of the glass, place the Happy Father's Day as close to the cards as possible. Use the etching cream, as before, to etch the words onto the mug.
