Chic-A-Tini

Don't just upcycle old martini glasses, upscale them to a Chic-A-Tini with the Fleur De Lis Over N Over Glass Etching Stencils and some Armour Etch Glass Etching Cream. Curving flourishes in this design bring out the classic elegance of the martini glass. We used a rich plum colored glass for this design but you can use any martini glass you desire.

Preparation and Usage Starting Skills

Project Steps

  1. This design was etched in stages. The technique allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously. Additionally, it enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit.
  2. This design also used a masking technique which allows for the selective use of certain parts of a stencil in specific locations.
  3. Place a corner stencil running under the brim and down to the stem. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch the flourish onto the martini glass.
  4. Looking through the glass, place the opposite corner stencil as close to the first as possible and running opposite to the one on the glass. Use the etching cream, as before, to etch the second corner flourish onto the martini glass.
  5. Looking through the back of the glass, center a swirl from the banner stencil above the point where the two corner flourishes meet. Cover all other parts of the banner stencil securely with masking tape. Use the etching cream again to etch the swirl onto the glass.
  6. Repeat the process with another swirl under the point where the two corner flourishes meet.
