Blue Meadow

Cobalt blue makes a dreamy nighttime back drop for our idyllic meadow scene. Floral corners frame out the field of flowers where our charming fliers dance. Make your own magical moments with the Over N Over Glass Etching Stencil Sheets and our Armour Etch Glass Etching Cream. We found this amazing blue vase and upcycled it for this design but it would be stunning on a hurricane vase, some candle holders or on the sides of a lantern.

Preparation and Usage Starting Skills

Project Steps

  1. This design was etched in stages. The technique allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously and it enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit.
  2. This design also used a masking technique which allows for the selective use of certain parts of a stencil in specific locations.
  3. After preparing the glass, place the corner stencils with te same floral pattern so they make an open frame running along the bottom and then up toward the top. You will need to trim the stencils where they meet along the bottom if you don't want any gaps in the design. Place a butterfly from the border up near the brim. Cover all other butterflies with masking tape.
  4. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch these onto the glass.
  5. Place the wide floral bush in the bottom center of the frame where the two corners meet and a large dragonfly on the neck. Etch these onto the vase with the cream as before.
  6. Place the small dragonfly in the bottom right corner and a tall floral bush in the left. Fit a small border butterfly under the large dragonfly and near the floral corner edge. Mask the other butterflies on the border stencil. Use the etching cream as directed to etch these onto the vase.
  7. Place the large butterfly over the plants so the left wing is close but not touching the plants. Mask almost all of the right wing to prevent it from being etched. Leave only a tiny bit that is next to the body exposed to look like legs. Rub the tape down firmly. Add any other butterflies or dragonflies you would like. Repeat the process with the etching cream to etch the final elements onto the vase.
